AI Club at Evergreen Middle School
After-school AI Club for grades 6–8, taught by Jenny Sacks, founder of EverBot. EMS runs two special sessions this school year, four Tuesdays each. Students build something real with AI as their coding partner, and they take it home.
Two Special Sessions This Year
Four Tuesdays each, 4:00–5:30 PM in the EMS cafeteria, with pickup at the front of the school at 5:30. $150 per student for the four weeks. Each session is capped at 15 students and needs 7 to run. Fall is open now. Spring opens in November.
Session 1 · Fall 2026
AI Game Studio
Build a real, playable video game in four Tuesdays.
Students start with a character on screen and finish with a game other people can play. Along the way they prompt an AI to generate working code, read what comes back, and fix it when it breaks: a world with platforms and walls, an enemy that patrols and chases, coins and a score. On Launch Day, November 17, everyone plays everyone else's game and hunts for each other's bugs, which is what a real QA team does.
- Dates: Tuesdays October 20, November 3, November 10, and November 17. No club October 27

Session 2 · Spring 2027
AI Art Lab
Write code that makes art.
A different build from the fall on purpose, so a student who does both never repeats themselves. Mandalas that draw themselves, particle systems, color palettes chosen by prompting an AI for a mood, and art that reacts when you move the mouse. Each week produces a finished piece. On the last day each artist curates their three strongest, writes a short artist statement for each, and the class hangs a gallery show.

For Parents: The Questions That Matter
Straight answers about screens, tools, and who's in the room.
Yes, and that is the point. This is the middle school program, and it is different from our elementary clubs, where students are never on devices. Here students write code for most of the ninety minutes. What they are learning is how to direct an AI, read what it produces, and fix it, which only happens with hands on a keyboard.
Their own school Chromebook, charged. EMS students have a device issued to them and it comes home each night, so it needs to come to club too. If someone forgets, they pair up with another student rather than sitting out. Snacks are provided.
Students use Gemini through their own Jeffco Google account and write code in the p5.js web editor. Projects are saved so they carry over week to week, and students take the project links home. Gemini runs under the student's own Jeffco Google account, so the district's rules cover what they type there, not EverBot's. The p5.js editor is a free website; students save their project there so it carries over week to week, and the link comes home on a card. EverBot never has access to a student's account and keeps nothing from it, except the list of project links on the class roster, which Jenny emails to parents after week one so a lost card is not a lost game.
At EMS, Jenny teaches every session herself: EverBot's founder, who wrote the curriculum. Before EverBot, she spent 18 years in the federal government in a position of public trust, which meant a full OPM background investigation: fingerprints, plus interviews with her neighbors, coworkers, and previous employers. Any contract instructor EverBot hires passes a background check before stepping into a classroom. Classes are capped at 15 students, and allergies, learning needs, and any safety notes you share at registration are reviewed before every session.
That describes most of the room. The AI writes the first draft of the code, which means a student who has never seen a line of JavaScript gets something moving on screen in the first twenty minutes. The skill being built is knowing what to ask for and what to do when the answer is wrong.
Seven students is the minimum to run a session. If we do not reach it, everyone gets a full refund.
You choose at registration, with three options: photos OK for marketing, photos shared only with enrolled families, or no photos at all. Most of what gets captured is the work on the screen, not the student, unless you've said otherwise.
